COLUMBIA, Md.—The spring season and upcoming celebration of Mother’s Day are special to us at Building Families for Children. Mother’s Day is on May 8, 2016! May is also National Foster Care Month. These special events remind us of the Lord’s grace and blessings that we have the opportunity to share with children and families in carrying out our mission.
Our Annual Mother’s Day appeal is enclosed with this edition of the Newsletter. Your financial gifts will make a difference in the lives of those we serve. In your giving, you become a part of the stories you read here. They are stories about families coming together to learn, to grow and to be strengthened. Stories where the givers and the receivers are equally blessed.
A lot has been happening at Building Families for Children. We were honored at the BFG Community Foundation Gala with a “Champion in Life” Award. BFG stands for “Building a Community for God” and they provide support, hope, care and love to those who need it most through their foundation support.
We have been amazed at the support for the Community of Hope project in Patterson Park. We received a grant from the Zanvyl and Isabell Krieger Foundation. This will help us in our early stages of bringing community families together to be socially connected and to be given a voice about what supports them and what is challenging for them. We have upcoming events to do just that in April, May and June, and are looking for a local community organizer to help us in these efforts.
