They say a picture tells a thousand words. This family photo was sent to us at Christmas from Brandye, a mom we served many years ago, who continues to participate in events and stay connected. When we first met Brandye, she had just been through a traumatic experience and was on the verge of homelessness. We provided shelter for Brandye and her kids, and surrounded her with a network of volunteers to help heal and achieve financial stability. Without these supports and Brandye’s determination, her kids may have entered the child welfare system. Instead, her family emerged intact and stronger than before. This picture now shows a mom, relaxed and filled with joy, with her three beautiful, happy teenagers. A heartwarming image.
