In her report to the Board of Trustees, Kate Macdonald, Clinical Coordinator of our Good Samaritan Network, recently described the “gift” of a Transitional Home as one that “slows down the snowball effect” that often happens in the lives of those with whom she works.
Given our cold and snowy winter, this was an easy image to conjure. Through our daily work with individuals and families, we have seen how small things happening in the life of a parent – a car accident, trouble with the law, a health issue – can cause a family’s life to snowball downhill, even to the point of homelessness or other serious instability.
Jesus ended the “snowball effect” of our sin through the cross, and we are also called to step in and help others in their distress to slow down and hopefully end the snowball’s path of destruction.
We want to thank our generous donors for making this possible. This year, as you may have already heard, we were able to add a home to our Transitional Home program through the generosity of a faithful donor. Many more give financially or by responding to in-kind requests. Others volunteer on a family’s support team. Thank you for supporting us in this effort. We are making a difference.
