As we prayerfully ask for an increase in foster families, the Wonderfully Made campaign has been launched!

Why let chaos and uncertainty frame the future of these kids, when there are many loving homes that could provide the safety and security necessary for their growth? We hope you will consider getting your church involved in the campaign.

Why Wonderfully Made?

The label “foster child”, for many, has a negative connotation. Even though we don’t blame the kids themselves, we sometimes see them as “troubled’ and “damaged”. The media portrays foster care and the system as a broken mess… it’s no wonder that many of us are weary of getting involved! Instead of shying away, however, God’s word makes it clear that the Church is expected to care for the vulnerable and share His light in dark places.

The idea behind “Wonderfully Made” is to focus on the value, potential, and precious beauty of every child. Supported by scripture, we hope to refresh your perspective, and extend an opportunity for individuals to leverage their blessings for the good of God’s children. Yes, foster care is messy sometimes, we aren’t going to pretend like it’s easy. But is it meaningful? Definitely! What could be more meaningful than opening up your home as a place for children to heal and thrive?

If you were to offer this campaign in your church, what would it look like?

Our hope is that many local congregations would step up to host this campaign so we can spread the word. There are many available pieces, and we would love to run the full campaign, but can tailor it to meet your churches needs and preferences.

Broken down, here are the elements:

  1. Information Sheets; Basic Information Sheet, Biblical Basis/Quotes, FAQ, Personal Reflection—can be handed out as a packet, or each sheet is available separately.
  2. Two PowerPoints; One that a representative from Building Families could speak through, and the other to be set up and run continually as part of a display
  3. Postcards; Some basic information, and contacts for people looking to learn more/get involved
  4. Bulletin Insert; Similar to the postcard, every attendee will hopefully receive this information
  5. Request for more information; A short “interest form” for people who would like to be contacted
