Because every mother should be able to care for her child and every child should be cared for by a mother.
We are pleased to announce the Building Families for Children “Agape Campaign” to those who support our mission. Every year, we invite churches and individuals to participate in a special Mother’s Day offering. This year, we are excited to introduce a new component: the first annual Father’s Day Agape 5k! This activity is designed to bring people together to build awareness about local needs and provide support for programs focused on meeting those needs.
Raising children and supporting a family is no easy task, especially in today’s world. Many parents feel isolated from the support of extended family, and kids are constantly being exposed to negative images and messages. So amidst all of today’s challenges, how is it possible to build a strong, stable family? Love. Not just any love, but Agape love. Agape is a Greek word used in the scriptures that refers to selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional love. Help us to honor mothers and fathers, and raise up this important message of Agape Love by participating in this year’s Campaign.
The tagline for our upcoming Mother’s Day offering (shown above) states simply and profoundly why we do what we do each day in fulfilling our mission. This offering helps support children and families, but it also sustains the many ways that Building Families for Children partners with churches throughout the year. Some services include:
- Helpline support to church staff who provide benevolence to families in need
- Training and support to individuals/groups within the church who desire to get involved in meaningful outreach
- Helping churches bless others through our holiday and back-to-school material assistance programs
This year, Mother’s Day is on May 10, 2015! Don’t miss this meaningful opportunity to join with us and support work that impacts your community!
And, we haven’t forgotten you dads out there…Join us for our first annual Agape 5K on June 20, 2015! It is a great way to get active and support families being helped by our Good Samaritan Network (GSN). Throughout the year, GSN works with families in poverty, connecting them to needed resources and relationships that support their well-being. Our goal is to use this 5K to raise both funds and awareness about local needs and the ways people can serve kids and families through our innovative programs.
So come on out for some fun and fellowship with family and friends! We’ve got something for everyone – runners and walkers alike (5K/2K options). Meet our staff, foster families, and volunteers, plus you can learn more at our Open House to follow!
