“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-38

Jevon is the mother of two young children. She found herself without a true support system, and she and her children were homeless.  Not seeing light at the end of the tunnel, Jevon contemplated giving up her children to foster care or adoption because she wanted what was best for them. As God will do, He saw her need and placed someone in her life that referred her to Safe Families for Children. Safe Families is a hosting program that BFC implements locally through a network of compassionate volunteer families. The coordinator for Safe Families, Tammy, met with Jevon and shared that a volunteer host family was willing to take her children into their home and keep them safe, while Jevon worked with the local shelter and focused on getting a place where they could all stay together. On faith, Jevon placed her kids with the Safe Families volunteers. The relationships and support that developed through Safe Families led to more blessing than Jevon had imagined prior to making the call to BFC. She and her kids are now living in a fully furnished apartment, and they are surrounded by a loving church community she knows she can trust and reach out to in times of need. Click here to see Jevon share about her experience in a video!

Connecting families to a caring, loving faith community that can provide crucial support during difficult times is what happens when we commit ourselves to His Great Commandment.  The love we demonstrate in those times has the power to transform lives and keep families whole! Your donation today will help us keep our vision alive for:

“A safe, nurturing family for every child.
A supportive, thriving community for every family.”

We are currently in need of $25,000 to help us move into next year in a position that allows us to continue to serve an increasing number of families.

Would you prayerfully consider how God might lead you to invest and provide the support system that Jevon and other families desperately need?

We are thankful this holiday season for you and for our many faithful and active donors.

Blessings,
Debbie Marini, Executive Director
